In a time when Saudi Arabia is rapidly evolving—culturally, economically, and creatively—few embody this transformation quite like Abdullah Alkhorayef. With a multidisciplinary approach rooted in engineering, real estate, interior design, fashion, and art curation, he weaves a cohesive narrative that speaks to a generation eager to honor its past while defining its future.

In conversation with Authenticite, Abdullah reflects on the seamless interplay of business and artistry, the philosophy behind his upcoming fashion brand, and what it means to create with intention in an era of unprecedented opportunity. With humility, clarity, and passion, he invites us into a world where simplicity is luxury, authenticity is the journey, and style is the ultimate self-alignment.
“Luxury to me is the opposite of inconvenience. It’s about making the story easier, more beautiful, and timeless.” — Abdullah Alkhorayef’’

You are at the intersection of business, design, and cultural innovation. How do you navigate these worlds seamlessly?
For me, the fact that they all coexist in my brain, my body, and my soul means they interact in my consciousness seamlessly. That’s enough for me not to think about how they are navigated. I learned a while ago that the fact that they are all in me means there is no contradiction between them.
Also, my engineering background and practice in real estate and interior design helped me structure my thoughts and look at all angles of a situation to come up with a holistic view. We sometimes think that those things are not related; however, the easiest way to think about it is when you see it as a story or a novel. This approach helps you create and navigate the full picture. At least that’s how I feel it helps me see it creatively.

And what drives your passion for blending strategic acumen with artistic expression?
The drive is to be successful. I think it’s important to redefine success in a multitude of ways that suits your creative objectives, while also having an open mind on how this success looks like. The success I have now (Alhamdulillah) is not what I thought it would look like, nonetheless the strategy remains the same. I like simple and applicable strategies. For me, as long as being true to myself and what feels true to my real goal, no matter how small or big it is, I make this my strategy. This way it becomes achievable as I know my strengths and most importantly weaknesses.

Saudi Arabia is experiencing an extraordinary cultural renaissance, and you are at the heart of it. How do you see your contributions shaping the Kingdom’s creative and luxury landscapes in alignment with Vision 2030?
I think anyone now working in Saudi or on Saudi is contributing. It’s amazing how this vision has captured the souls and enthusiasm of the nation, if not the whole world. We are at an amazing time in the history of this country that literally anything we do with passion and belief, even if it’s your daily job or going to an art gallery or attending an event without thinking, you are contributing to this creative industry. From my side, I believe that the fact that I’m participating in Art, culture, and fashion industry and focusing on succeeding locally is my role in contribution to this alignment, and when you do your best it will become luxury.

Your expertise spans interior design, fashion, and art curation—each a unique yet interconnected facet of your creative identity. How do you infuse your signature aesthetic across these disciplines?
By being true to my taste and aesthetic, and also by understanding that we have to be different and unique to add different points of view to the world. Also by always learning and growing and giving yourself the opportunity to get inspired and also question when something touches you in a positive or even more exciting in a negative way. I love when something confuses me or creates tension, it makes you wonder and ask questions. Sometimes you don’t have to answer them; the unknown is sometimes also good and enough.

With the highly anticipated launch of your fashion brand, can you share the philosophy behind it? What can we expect in terms of craftsmanship, storytelling, and cultural influences?
The philosophy is something easy to wear for the busy creative individual, in a way reinventing the everyday uniform by infusing the basic guidelines of the past in our culture specifically but also human cultures but make suitable for our world today and the future. In a way, it’s nothing new, but a new vision of the past. I’m imagining how we can evolve our dress as humans.
You have an enviable global network and have collaborated with leading figures in the luxury and fashion industries. How have these experiences shaped your perspective on Saudi Arabia’s evolving role in the international fashion and design dialogue?
Saudi Arabia is creating and establishing a distinct style, a Saudi style and a Saudi aesthetic. It’s so exciting! And what’s beautiful about it is that it’s true to us as Saudis. WE are making it, and it suits us, not enforced on us by others. I truly believe that we are a very unique and identifiable example of the evolution of a culture that is coming naturally and organically, which will make it long-lasting with stable roots. It’s not invented, it’s real.

Heritage and modernity are central themes in your work, from preserving Saudi traditions to curating contemporary art and luxury experiences. How do you balance honouring the past while pushing boundaries for the future?
Again, by looking at myself and what feels true to me, my values, and my evolving style. I’m also very inspired by the youth of Saudi Arabia. I love their courage and confidence. The good thing about how we Saudis do things is that we are naturally proud of our past and heritage; it comes easy to us. Even when there are challenges, our collective values make this an achievable pursuit.
Luxury, by its very essence, is about storytelling, emotion, and exclusivity. How do you redefine luxury through your projects, whether in real estate, interiors, or fashion, to create meaningful and transformative experiences?
I totally agree with the storytelling element. You need to understand your story or the client’s story to create something that is luxurious. Luxury to me is the opposite of inconvenience. I always ask how can I make this story easier, more beautiful, and timeless. This, to me, is luxury. How it is translated into a project or a garment is the technique, materials, methodology, and presentation. But essentially, it’s about simplification and a solid concept. I love a concept, especially if it’s not related to an aesthetic. It gives a project depth.

What is style to you?
The alignment of who you are, what you like, and how you live. If these three are aligned, you have a style.
Less is more or more is more?
More often than not, less is more. I love editing. However, I believe in some cases in life, more is more. Depends on the mood and how you feel. I don’t like to restrict myself to a specific idea all the time; it’s nice to keep your mind open to change.
What is authenticity to you?
It’s the journey to being.
